Kasturba Medical College (KMC) is deemed to be a university that was established in 1955 under the constituent of MAHE, Manipal and Before becoming an independent unit in 1977, KMC which was established in 1955, used the clinical facilities of government hospitals. The college got recognized only 3 years after its establishment by the Medical Council of India. It is the first in India to receive the full Association from the accreditation of human research protection programs accreditation (AAHRPP) in December 2011. It was founded by Dr. TMA Pai and is also the first college to be developed as a private partnership model in medical education and health care.
The college has an infrastructure that is as per the international standard having 7 big air-conditioned lecture halls that are not only very spacious but are equipped with facilities like multimedia projectors, well-furnished furniture, lockers for each student. The college also has a central library which is fully air-conditioned with a seating capacity of 500 and free wifi facility.
The college is not only recognized by the medical council of India but also by various international bodies like the General Medical Council of Great Britain and the Malaysian Medical Council. It is affiliated with the Manipal Academy of higher education (MAHE) and ranks among the top 25 medical colleges in the country as of today. Adding to this, the medical college is also recognized as one among the 20 International Medical Schools by the Educational Commission for Foreign Graduates (ECFMG) for its electronic credentials verification program and its degree has worldwide recognition. As of now, 45 international students have graduated from college and are practising doctors outside India.
Kasturba Medical college, Mangalore is one of its kind which not only provides quality education but also a number of facilities to the students. Till now around 28000 students from 57 countries have graduated from this college while living, learning and playing in this sprawling university town.
The college is located in an area that has exceptional educational facilities, like the simulation lab with the computer-driven manikins, an innovation centre and one of Asia’s largest health science libraries. It also has one of the world’s best anatomy museums, a business incubation centre that attracts thousands of children every year to take admission to the college and be a part of this unique and tranquil atmosphere and environment to study.
It also has a massive indoor sports complex with around 5 badminton courts, four squash courts, three tennis courts, a basketball court and many more to look after the physical and overall development of the child. In addition to this, the college also provides a running track and a hi-tech gym.

At KMC, students are provided with the best and qualified teachers who not only have high potential in their academic domain but are also a powerful blend of both academic experience and industry exposure. While teaching the students they use the best and the latest technology so that the students get a broader view and they get conceptual clarity of the topic.
Most of the teachers employed at the college have served as members of professional bodies and have tons of experience in teaching. The teaching staff of the college play an important role as a teacher guardian for the students and thereby mentor, guide and conduct counselling sessions to encourage the students to not only excel in their academic stuff but also in curricular and co-curricular activities.
Besides this, the teachers also work as researchers, scholars, consultants, and social workers. As a researcher, they write papers, journals at national and international conferences which get published in highly impacted magazines and journals that set a benchmark for the students and motivate them. The teacher believes not in teaching the students but to do self-study with them and hence both the students and the teachers share a friendly relation with each other rather than a student and teacher relationship.
