Sri Raghavendra ayurvedic medical college and hospital was founded by Raghavendra Swamiji and its history takes us back to the year 1943 when the college was established. Once Raghavendra Swamiji was wandering around the coastal and rural areas of middle Karnataka, conducting several camps for a period of around 1 month to enlighten the people about the value of life and the importance of yoga and physical exercise in day to day life. In January 1943, he visited a place called Malladihalli and conducted the camp there but as soon as the tenure of the camp ended, the village of Malladihalli was caught under the sudden outbreak of the cholera epidemic which took the lives of thousands of people.
At that time Raghavendra Swamiji emerged as a saviour for the people who saved them from this life-taking epidemic through his knowledge of Ayurveda. Considering him as the god the people of the village asked him to stay with them to which Swamiji could not deny. The people of the village made him an ashram which later on became the Shri Raghavendra ayurvedic medical college as we know it today.
Spread over an area of 20 acres of land, the college is well equipped with all kinds of facilities, like laboratory halls, demonstration halls, playgrounds, hostel facilities, central library etc. The college is surrounded by the lush green scenery and environment and the tranquillity of the countryside makes it a perfect place for visiting and a college in that place is like icing on the top.
Sri Raghavendra ayurvedic medical college provides the best place and environment for both the studies as well as for recreational activities. The beautiful scenery and environment surrounded by evergreen trees and plants add beauty to the college ambience. The college is affiliated with the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of health and science and is registered under the central council of Indian medicine
We have seen that over the last few decades the historical roots of the Indian medicine system called Ayurveda have lost their importance which thereby makes it necessary to make the younger generation aware of the benefits of Ayurveda. Healing through nature is the best treatment of any disease and this is what college strives for. The college is dedicated to the achievement of excellence in both the field of ayurvedic education and research.
The founder of Sri Raghavendra ayurvedic college and hospital, Raghavendra Swamiji believes that one can find god by dedicating himself to the service of the human race. He left his pace in his early teenage years to find god but soon realised he can only find him through the service of mankind. The institute management takes extra care of the students from different regions to make them feel like their home. Special attention is given to the quality of food and accommodation of the children who are from different places and not from Karnataka.

Vision statement: The college vision is the same as those of any other ayurvedic college i.e to spread the historic root of Ayurveda, the Indian system of health care across the nation and popularising it more and more through skilled education, research and development. It also includes establishing their research and development department at various international levels for manufacturing and distributing ayurvedic medicine across the globe.
Talking about the institute’s faculty we came to know that the students of the college are always eager to learn from their teachers since they provide them not only with the knowledge of theoretical books but also about the practical and corporate world. The institute provides well- experienced teachers to the students. The experience of the students with the institute’s faculty has been amazing so far and they enjoy studying with the teachers.
